Our Community Partners

Run Ottawa - Home | Facebook

One of our signature roasts, the Tempo Blend, is a partnership with Run Ottawa, the not-for-profit organization that coordinates Canada’s most popular multi-day running event, the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend. Together, we are roasting some incredible specialty coffee with a portion of all sales being donated to ABLE2, another wonderful not-for-profit in Ottawa.

We work closely with their social workers to place their incredibly talented pool of people living with disabilities to work! The owner and head roaster of the Artery Community Roasters is also a volunteer with ABLE2, and sits on their Board of Directors.

We are honoured to work with small coffee importers who we trust and call friends. Our main coffee importer is Brendan Adams, owner of Semilla Coffee. He is also a journalist and advocate who works tirelessly to help reform how specialty coffee is sourced. He emphasizes ethics, fair wages and building relationships with farmers and washing stations based on mutual respect and equitable wages. Thanks to Semilla Coffee, we have been fortunate to not only source some incredible coffees, but perhaps more importantly, we have gained a better appreciation for what a true pursuit of ethical coffee and community building entails on the part of roasters.

We also wanted to say a big thank you to our partners at BuildAble. They are great corporate citizens who help give people with disabilities, or who are ageing, the opportunity to stay in their homes thanks to accessible design renovations and consultations. They were generous enough to give us a hand in getting our space ready for some of our staff members, and we are looking to forward to working with them in the future to make our space even more accessible!

And last, but certainly not least, a giant thank you goes out to our amazing partners at The Box of Life, who have generously set us up with our very own Warm Café, a vermicomposting solution that allows us to turn our coffee jute bags, grinds and chaff into soil for our gardens.

Thanks for caring!
